GigaStor Innovations Boost Capture and Analysis Performance by 116 Per Cent

Network Instruments Hardware Enhancements Reduce Troubleshooting Time on 10 Gb Networks

MINNEAPOLIS – June 2, 2011 – Network Instruments®, a worldwide leader in network and application management, today announced it has increased write-to-disk and analysis performance by up to 116 per cent on its GigaStor retrospective network analysis appliances. The improved performance, achieved through software and hardware enhancements, allows network teams to capture and save full-duplex 10 Gb traffic to disk at line rate utilising a smaller form factor.

“The enhancements to the GigaStor appliance address the main concerns of performance management in the data center–quick and accurate analysis in a small footprint,” said Brad Reinboldt, senior product manager for Network Instruments. “Customers rely on us to continually leverage the latest technology to ensure that their monitoring investments solve performance problems in less time, even as network traffic is increased.”

Hardware Enhancements
GigaStor, the industry’s fastest retrospective analysis appliance, offers improved performance through:

  • Increased processing and analysis speeds: GigaStor Upgradeable and GigaStor Expandable performance boosted over 100 per cent through dual 6-core processors, advanced RAID controllers, and new SAS backplanes
  • Reduced data center footprint: Optimised 5U chassis delivers full-duplex 10 Gb stream-to-disk capabilities in a significantly smaller form factor
  • Greater memory: GigaStor Upgradeable, GigaStor Expandable, and Gigastor SAN now feature 33 GB of RAM standard with the appliance
  • Enhanced reliability: Standard redundant power supplies improves appliance availability
