NIPrint: Bi-Directional, 32-bit LPD/LPR Print Services for Winsock
• Instant LPR/LPD for Windows 95/98 and Windows NT/2000/XP
• Fast, secure, reliable, multi-platform bi-directional printing
• Access network printers or print servers direct from Windows PCs

What NIPrint Can Do For You
NIPrint is the market leader in high performance print servers based on Windows sockets.

NIPrint employs the industry standard LPD/LPR protocol to transfer print jobs to and from remote Unix hosts, network printers and servers, and Windows PCs. Using LPD/LPR protocol makes NIPrint inherently compatible with the vast majority of Unix and other systems that implement LPD services.

NIPrint can be used as a stand alone printing utility for Windows 95/98, or Windows NT/2000. For Windows NT/2000, NIPrint provides extensive functionality not present in NT or 2000's TCP print services. This functionality includes security, remote print queue checking, text file conversions, pre- and post-pend print string options, and logging. Because NIPrint supports Windows, Windows 95/98, or Windows NT/2000, your technology purchase is safe regardless of the O/S direction you decide to move your network.

NIPrint can also enrich any commercial TCP/IP, X-Windows, or client server application, providing immediate, high speed, reliable, bi-directional printing. These printing features are often either overlooked or poorly implemented in many commercial TCP/IPs.
NIPrint has been designed to provide bi-directional (local and remote) printing services between Windows PCs, Unix servers, or hardware based printers or servers. NIPrint is a full implementation of Unix LPD and LPR for the Windows Winsock 1.1, or 2.0 environment. Because each NIPrint program contains both a complete server and client, any Windows PC with NIPrint installed can become a local print server for any other Windows PC or any Unix system on the LAN.

NIPrint provides high flexibility without sacrificing performance. For Local Print (printing from Unix to a PC), NIPrint can be configured to print to all ports present on a Windows PC simultaneously.

If your site requirements dictate more printers, both NIPrint's Remote Print (printing from the PC to Unix or a print server) and Local Print can be configured to print up to 1,024 local or remote printers. NIPrint's Local Print can receive multiple print requests - up to 32 simultaneously - from multiple Unix hosts or Windows PCs.

Why use NIPrint?
NIPrint seamlessly bridges the gap in Windows to Unix printing, and provides the missing link for Windows 95 printing. With NIPrint you will no longer need to worry where you should attach expensive or heavily utilized printers. NIPrint allows you to put each printer where it is needed and allows any user (Unix or PC) to print to any printer. Expensive laser printers or color printers can now be shared by everyone on the network. Less accessible or remote areas can now be serviced by a printer connected to a Windows PC in that area.

NIPrint is fast - printing is immediate
Because NIPrint is based on TCP/IP, it is both efficient and extremely fast. No more waiting for other Windows/Unix print utilities to spool and poll.  NIPrint receives and sends print jobs immediately.

NIPrint is an industry standard
Based on the industry standard LPD/LPR, NIPrint keeps you within the standard TCP/IP suite of protocols. No matter what kind of Unix system you have, what type of network printer you own, or plan to purchase in the future, you can be confident that NIPrint will work for you.

Additionally, because NIPrint is based on an industry standard, there is no need to install any support files on Unix, and modification of the Unix system's printer interface is unnecessary. Starting your Unix system's or network printers's built-in LPD/LPR services is the only Unix setup required.

NIPrint is not just for Windows to Unix printing
If you are using Windows 95/98, NT/2000, Novell, Unix or an LPD based print device, you may need to send print jobs to any or all of these systems. All of these systems have different printer interfaces. Because NIPrint is both a LPR client and a LPD server, NIPrint can print both to and from Unix, to LPD based print devices, and to and from other NIPrint servers. NIPrint provides a consistent interface for all your LAN printing needs.

The missing link for network printers or print servers
NIPrint's provides the missing link for printing from Windows 95/98 to LPD based network printers or servers. NIPrint provides simple, reliable, industry standard printing to hardware based print servers (i.e. HP JetDirect, Emulex, Lantronix, Tektronix, etc.).

Systems requirements
Windows PC requirements: Microsoft Windows 95 (or greater) and any Winsock 1.1 (or greater) compatible TCP/IP (Microsoft's 32-bit VxD TCP/IP is recommended). NIPrint takes less than 400K of disk space on the Windows PC.

Platforms: Windows 95/98 and Windows NT/2000/XP.

Host (Unix) requirements: Any Unix or other host/printer that supports LPD/LPR protocol.

Supported Unix systems: SCO Unix, IBM AIX, HP/UX, DEC Ultrix, Unixware, SUN OS, SUN Solaris, Data General, NCR, Unisys, AT&T, Silicon Graphics, Linux, ICL, Cray, Fujitsu, QNX, Motorola, Pyramid,  Sequent, Stratus, Tandem, TI, and Altos.
