Single-Channel Optical Fiber nTAP

Summary

The Single-Channel Optical Fiber nTAP offers a standard gigabit input connection, a standard gigabit output connection and a standard full-duplex analyzer connection. Optical nTAPs are available in single-mode or multi-mode transmission.

Optical nTAPs split the full-duplex signal from the network into two signals, sending one signal to the analyzer and the other signal back to the network. Choose between signal split ratios of 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, 80/20 and 90/10 depending on your network requirement. Optical nTAPs also require no power to operate and can support link speeds up to 2000 Mbps.

As with all nTAPs, Single-Channel Optical Fiber nTAPs are passive, full-duplex monitoring devices, offering complete visibility into your network regardless of traffic levels. nTAPs are transparent, allowing you to monitor your critical links without data stream interference. And by permanently installing nTAPs, you never need to bring the link down to attach an analyzer or other device.

Every nTAP works with the leading security and network management tools, so you can easily deploy them into your network.

Compatibility

Optical nTAPs are compatible with:

  • Network/protocol analyzers
  • Security monitoring devices
  • Forensic tools
  • Remote monitoring appliances
  • RMON probes, and more

Technology

  • Optical nTAPs support full-duplex passive monitoring up to Gigabit speed anywhere on the network
  • nTAPs can be permanently deployed without interfering with network performance or introducing a point of failure
  • Optical nTAPs guarantee monitoring of both sides of a full-duplex connection
  • Since nTAPs are not addressable devices, they cannot be the target of a hack or virus attack

nTAP Advantages

  • Error Reporting
  • Compact Design
  • Failover Redundancy Compatible
  • Economical to Install
  • Meets International RF Emission Standards
